Main responsibilities


The Director of Operations manages and optimizes the company’s manufacturing and distribution operations in accordance with established corporate objectives and in a spirit of innovation, quality and competitiveness. He/she is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating activities related to logistics/procurement, production, manufacturing processes, quality and industrial maintenance, as well as the related budgets, policies, procedures and performance indicators. He/she ensures the application of quality and occupational health and safety standards by all personnel.

Job description


Administrative Management
– Participates in the development of Theatrixx’s strategic plan.
– Determines the operational objectives of his/her department in accordance with corporate objectives, obtains approval from his/her supervisor and ensures that they are achieved.
– Collaborates in the elaboration of the department’s budget, ensures its periodic control and, if necessary, makes the necessary adjustments.
– Implements and regularly monitors the results of the performance indicators on the department’s dashboard, identifies the actions to be taken to correct any discrepancies and informs his/her immediate supervisor, if necessary.
– Ensures optimal production scheduling in relation to production capacity and approves the weekly and daily schedule.
– Monitors production capacity, productivity and manufacturing costs for each section and ensures that delivery deadlines are met.
– Develops and/or approves departmental work policies and procedures, has them validated by his/her supervisor and ensures that they are applied by the staff concerned.
– Prepares periodic management reports for his/her department, presents them to his/her immediate supervisor and submits recommendations based on the results achieved.
– Ensures the availability and optimal use of the department’s resources.
– Sits on the management committee and ensures the implementation of resolutions adopted at meetings concerning the activities of his department.
– Leads the daily sales-operations coordination committee and ensures the implementation of resolutions adopted at meetings concerning his/her department.
– Leads the Operations Committee and ensures the implementation of resolutions passed at meetings.

Logistics/Procurement
– Coordinates the development of order entry/issuance of waybills, purchasing, transportation, inventory and warehousing policies and ensures that they are implemented by the appropriate staff.
– May conduct supplier research and visits and negotiate major purchase contracts.
– Coordinates the maintenance of records/databases of purchased parts and accessories specifications, suppliers and their price lists.
– Ensures that the best quality/price ratio is obtained for purchases in accordance with the specifications established by internal customers.


Production
– Establishes and/or supervises the development of the plant’s overall production plan.
– Ensures the smooth running of production operations, supervises and coaches the coordinator and supervisors in their daily management.
– Integrates new product lines into production.
– Ensures the application of the company’s quality and occupational health and safety standards.
– Ensures the integration and proper training of new employees.
– Ensures the optimal use of the production capacity of the sections.
– Seeks out subcontractors as needed, negotiates agreements, has them approved by his/her supervisor and manages them.

Manufacturing processes and quality control
– Directs the documentation of manufacturing processes and quality standards, ensures that they are updated and applied by employees.
– Ensures quality control according to the company’s standards of the products manufactured and to be distributed before their shipment to the customers.
– Ensures the optimization of manufacturing processes and suggests innovative solutions.
– Manages external inspections (CSA, Intertek, QPS).
– Keeps abreast of new production equipment on the market, analyzes their advantages and makes recommendations to his supervisor.
– Leads projects to reorganize, add equipment, continuous improvement (production lines, workstations, etc.) in the manufacturing workshop.
– Approves equipment optimization and continuous improvement projects and monitors the achievement of results.
– Approves preventive maintenance programs for equipment and the building.
– Approves purchases, replacements and major repairs to both production equipment and the building according to established policies.
– Supervises the process in the event of a product recall.

Human Resources
– Participates in the selection, hiring, management, development and evaluation of personnel under his/her jurisdiction.
– Applies the company’s human resources management policies.
– Recommends to his/her superior the creation and/or addition of new positions.
– Ensures the maintenance of a harmonious organizational climate and a management style conducive to the achievement of corporate objectives in his/her department and with the personnel of other departments.
– Applies the human resources management policies found in the company’s Employee Manual.
– Performs any other task as requested by his/her immediate superior.

Required qualifications


– Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or operations and logistics management
– At least 3 to 5 years experience in a similar position (similar field – asset)
– Mastery of good manufacturing practices, lean manufacturing, budget management, inventory and procurement
– Strong ability to manage and mobilize human resources
– Knowledge of occupational Health and Safety standards.
– Bilingual: advanced command of spoken and written French and English.
– Computer skills: ERP, MS Office.
– Available for occasional travel
– Knowledge of international electrical standards – asset
