Main responsibilities

The software development technician participates in the development and support of software, interfaces, firmware, drivers and test sequences to support the R&D department’s product development projects. The candidate is also responsible for producing documentation related to each project: comments in the code, operating procedures, test instructions and documentation related to the support system. Finally, he/she is responsible for achieving the objectives of his/her part of the project within the defined time and budget, while respecting the company’s criteria of security – reliability – robustness – quality – profitability.

– Designs and develops software and test sequences in accordance with R&D department policies.
– Proposes technology choices according to the application and project requirements.
– Code the software components necessary for the functional requirements of the product.
– Participates in the implementation and maintenance of the software development ecosystem.
– Participates in the implementation and management of a version control system.
– May perform start-up, qualification and transfer to production (deployment) of test benches.- Ensures that the necessary documents are obtained at the beginning of the project.
– Applies the Agile process in the realization of its R&D projects.
– Manages changes and extras to certain projects, if necessary.

– Participates in identifying new products to be developed and/or ways to optimize the performance of existing products and makes recommendations to his/her supervisor.
– Participates in department meetings and contributes to good teamwork.
– Collaborates with other members of the R&D team to integrate software and/or interfaces into departmental projects.
– Carries out R&D projects and ensures that they are adequately documented and that they comply with safety, reliability, robustness, quality, feasibility and profitability requirements.
– Ensures the completion of assigned projects within the established schedule and budget.
– Records the hours worked on each project in a logbook.
– Collaborates to respect the company’s innovation criteria.
– Performs all other related tasks.

Required qualifications

• Technical background in computer engineering or other relevant discipline
• 2-3 years of experience in a similar position, ideally related to products in the arts and entertainment industry (asset)
• Knowledge of good R&D and software development practices
• French and English spoken and written
• Computer skills: C, C++, Angular, React, HTML, CSS, Javascript, NodeJS, Linux
