Main responsibilities


The Controller ensures the implementation and achievement of corporate and operational objectives related to his/her department as well as the management of finances, accounting, product costing, human resources and the company’s management information system. He/she is also responsible for the establishment and application of related policies, procedures and performance indicators.

Job description


Administrative Management
– Participates in the development of Theatrixx’s strategic plan.
– Determines the operational objectives of his/her department in accordance with the corporate objectives, obtains approval from his/her immediate superior and ensures their achievement.
– Develops and maintains the corporate scorecard, analyzes the various performance indicators and makes recommendations to the appropriate manager and/or supervisor.
– Develops departmental policies and work procedures, obtains approval from his/her superior and ensures that they are applied by the personnel concerned.
– Prepares periodic management reports for his/her department, presents them to his/her supervisor and submits his/her recommendations based on the results achieved.
– Sits on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and ensures the implementation of the resolutions adopted during the meetings concerning the activities of his/her department.
– Ensures the optimization of the department’s processes.
– Registers Theatrixx trademarks/products and keeps the file up to date.
– Analyzes legal files and makes recommendations to the President and/or the Board of Directors as required.
– Manages the company’s insurance portfolio (group insurance, liability, auto, building).

Accounting
– Prepares the company’s operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the directors concerned and submits them to his/her superior for approval.
– Prepares monthly financial statements, analyses them and produces the related financial management reports, presents them to his/her superior with recommendations to remedy unfavourable variances and assists the directors in their financial follow-up.
– Ensures the reliability of the computerized data processing and the reports generated.
– Ensures the follow-up of the company’s cash flow and informs the President on a daily basis.
– Checks the accuracy of accounts receivable and ensures the collection of accounts receivable.
– Verifies the accuracy of accounts payable and submits them to his/her immediate superior for signature.
– Controls payroll and bank deposits.
– Reviews bank reconciliation.
– Prepares sales reports and commissions for representatives and submits them to his/her superior.
– Prepares and/or approves various government reports and remittances.
– Approves the processing of personnel expense accounts and credit card reports.
– Ensures internal management control and inventories.
– Verifies open purchase orders and delivery slips in the accounting system to ensure that no merchandise is missed and that all orders are shipped and invoiced.
– Prepares royalty reports for Philipps, HDMI and HDBT.


– Ensures the preparation of accounting documents required for the external audit and works with the external auditor to prepare the annual financial reports.
– Coordinates the filing of the company’s tax returns.
– Keeps abreast of laws and regulations and accounting standards affecting the company’s operations.
– Coordinates the preparation of credit applications and has them approved by his/her supervisor.
– Verifies open purchase and receiving orders in the accounting system so that all goods receipts are associated with a purchase invoice.
– Checks invoices to zero so that everything is actually invoiced.
– Ensures compliance and enforcement of the company’s customer credit policies.

Finance
– Analyzes and recommends to his/her superior the various financial investments.
– Analyzes and evaluates the company’s financing structure (loans, line of credit, grants, etc.) and recommends the optimal structure to his/her superior.
– Carries out the profitability analysis of various projects, the search for financing and the preparation of the file and recommends the most profitable investment to his/her superior.
– Ensures the financial follow-up of the selected projects.

Cost price
– Implements and controls the cost price system and the profitability of product categories.
– Ensures the reliability of the elements (manufacturing time standards, quantity and price of raw materials, etc.) making up the cost price of each product category and the recording of their data on a regular basis.
– Controls and evaluates the cost price system by product category (standard and actual cost analyses) and formulates appropriate corrective measures to his/her immediate superior in order to obtain better profitability.
– Collaborates in the establishment of the selling price of products.
– Maintains the company’s product price list.
Human Resources
– Participates in the development of the company’s human resources management policies while respecting the company’s values.
– Ensures the company’s compliance with the various laws and regulations governing human resources management.
– Participates in the selection, hiring, management, development and evaluation of personnel under his or her jurisdiction.
– Ensures the application of the company’s human resources management policies.
– Recommends to his/her superior the creation and/or addition of new positions.
– Ensures the maintenance of a harmonious organizational climate and a management style conducive to the achievement of corporate objectives in his/her department and with the personnel of other departments.

Required qualifications


– DESS in Accounting
– Recognized accounting designation
– 3-5 years experience in a similar position in a manufacturing company
– Excellent knowledge of accounting standards and internal controls

– French and English spoken and written
– Computer skills: MS Office, accounting software, ERP
