Main responsibilities


The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the development of the electrical and electronic components of the products manufactured by the company and for respecting the established deadlines and budgets. The candidate is also responsible for producing documentation related to each project, including product data sheets. He/she acts as a resource person for electrical and electronic engineering within the company and is responsible for achieving the objectives of his/her part of the project, while respecting the company’s criteria of safety – reliability – robustness – quality – profitability. Finally, he/she monitors market trends and customer needs and identifies innovative products to develop.

– Engineers and designs electrical and electronic products created by the Research and Development Department.
– Determines the electrical and electronic requirements of new products.
– Creates, designs and/or recommends electrical and/or electronic components for new products.
– Produce manufacturing, assembly, installation, presentation, certification drawings, etc.
– Writes and maintains documentation for certification and compliance, assembly manuals, user manuals, technical specification documents, etc.
– Manages compliance and certification activities (requirements, appointments, modifications, etc.).
– Designs and draws printed circuit boards and produces the necessary documents for their manufacture.
– Performs electrical and electronic tests on products under test and new products.
– Ensures that the necessary documents are obtained at the beginning of the project.
– Applies the Stage Gate process in the realization of its R&D projects.
– Participates in identifying new products to be developed and/or ways to optimize the performance of existing products and makes recommendations to his/her supervisor.
– Maintains paper and electronic files related to each of his/her R&D projects, including technical data sheets of the products developed and/or improved, along with the list of components and manufacturing processes, has them approved by his/her supervisor and ensures their transmission to the persons concerned.
– Researches suppliers and prices for specific inputs.
– Maintains professional relationships with external partners and suppliers in the processing of his files and, if necessary, visits them.
– Obtains bids from suppliers or subcontractors.
– Collaborates with the procurement team to order materials and/or equipment for each new project.


– Selects components and ensures their standardization in the products.
– Creates, manages and maintains BOMs for new products.
– Verifies new product drawings and ensures compliance with design and engineering requirements and specifications prior to production.
– Assembles new product prototypes and performs feasibility and quality testing of prototypes in the factory.
– Manages changes and extras to certain projects as required.
– Participates in department meetings and contributes to good teamwork.
– Collaborates with other members of the R&D team to integrate electrical and electronic components into department projects.
– Keeps abreast of market trends, customer needs and competitor offerings in order to anticipate customer product requests and keep the company at the forefront of the market with its products.
– Acts as a technological reference within the company for electrical and electronic engineering issues.
– Provides technical support to the production teams during the introduction of new products as well as technical assistance to the sales department when needed.
– Carries out R&D projects, ensures that they are properly documented and that they comply with safety, reliability, robustness, quality, feasibility and profitability requirements.
– Ensures the completion of assigned projects within the established schedule and budget.
– Notes the hours worked on each project in a logbook.
– Collaborates in the preparation of R&D credit applications.
– Participates in the documentation required to obtain patents for the company’s products, if applicable.
– Participates in the drafting of patents.
– Collaborates to respect the company’s innovation criteria.

Required qualifications

• Availability for occasional travel to subcontractors and suppliers
