Main responsibilities

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the organization of his/her area and assists in the preparation, packaging and shipping of orders to customers according to customer specifications and the established delivery schedule. He/she assists in the organization of transportation by truck, air and sea and ensures the accuracy of export documents. Finally, he/she ensures that good relations are maintained with transportation suppliers.

Job description

– Reviews daily shipping schedule, receives orders for manufactured products from production, verifies accuracy of quantity and condition against packing slips.
– Prepares and packs orders for manufactured and distribution products according to established procedures (boxes and pallets).
– Greets customers during on-site order pick-ups.
– Verifies and implements transportation arrangements desired by customers and, if necessary, contacts vendors and/or customers.
– Requests quotes from various transportation providers taking into consideration priority, cost and/or delivery time reliability.
– Reserves transportation services by phone, email or web platform depending on the provider selected.
– Completes the documents required by the transportation provider depending on the destination (commercial export invoice, B13, Nafta or equivalent documents, bill of lading, etc.).

– Receives carriers, empties and fills trucks and/or containers.
– Informs the warehouse clerk of merchandise received for storage.
– Receives returns for repair and forwards them to the service department.
– Handles requests from our customs broker (inspections, document corrections and proofs when sending demo equipment or returns for repair).
– Updates HS codes and country of origin for each product in the accounting software.
– Verifies and closes “TIB’s” before the prescribed deadlines.
– Optimizes the organization of the shipment of orders.
– Maintains weekly inventory of packaging supplies.
– Ensures the cleanliness and tidiness of the areas in his/her sector.
– Collaborates to maintain a harmonious work climate within his/her department and with the personnel of other departments.
– Applies the human resources management policies found in the company’s Employee Manual.
– Performs any other task as requested by his/her superior.

Required qualifications

– DEC in Transportation Logistics – asset or experience in the field of lighting-sound-video
– 1 year experience in a similar position
– Valid driver’s license
– Fluency in spoken and written French and English
– Computer skills: Shipping software, Word, Outlook
